Academic advising and coaching at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor operates under a primarily decentralized model, allowing units to tailor services to the specific needs of their students. An ongoing, collaborative effort between the Advising Council at the University of Michigan (ACUM), the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (OVPUE), and individual departments and units ensures that U-M students have a mesh of resources to assist with navigating resources at the institution. This includes professional development for advisors and coaches, developing the Academic Advising & Coaching Framework, and regular communication with the advising and coaching community via a monthly newsletter.
The Advising Council at the University of Michigan (ACUM), brings together those who advise and coach our students for the sharing of information, ideas, and best practices across campus. The ACUM hosts regular Continuing Education Sessions throughout the academic year, culminating in a final Advising Conference each May.
